Our own special brand of socialism Algeria and the contest of modernities in the 1960s [Ressource électronique] :

The article examines how Algeria developed politically in the aftermath of the seven year war between the Algerian National Liberation Front and France from 1954-1962. The author examines how the war served as an incubator for the shape of the development that would take place when France was eventually ousted. French president Charles de Gaulle saw the need to bring social and economic development into the country to gain support form Muslims, however; this was never fully achieved. Muslims took over various forms of industry in the country and gained control of Algeria's economic resources. The author explores how a unique form of socialism was able to develop and the impact this had on Cold War politics.
