The international administration of the Moroccan city of Tangier was a specific form of colonial rule, that of a "shared colonialism." The author develops this concept from a transnational perspective using urban infrastructure projects such as sewerage and slaughterhouse construction, shining light on continuities between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that continue to shape Tangier's cityscape to this day. Gewinnerin des Dissertationspreises der "Gesellschaft für Stadtgeschichte und Urbanisierungsforschung" 2020 !
